How to Register for .com.np Domain for Free In Nepal and Process of Domain Registration In Nepal

If you're looking to create a website for your business or personal brand, one of the first steps is to register a domain name. A domain name is the address that people will use to access your website, and it's important to choose a domain name that's easy to remember and relevant to your brand. In Nepal, you can register a domain with the ".com.np" extension for free. In this article, we'll walk you through the steps to register a ".com.np" domain name for your website.

What is Domain?

A domain name is a unique address that identifies a website on the internet. It's the name that people type into their web browser to access your website. For example, the domain name for Google is "google.com".

A domain name consists of two parts: the top-level domain (TLD) and the second-level domain (SLD). The TLD is the part of the domain name that comes after the last dot, such as ".com", ".org", or ".net". The SLD is the part of the domain name that comes before the TLD, such as "google" in "google.com".

When you register a domain name, you become the owner of that domain name and have exclusive rights to use it for your website. You can use your domain name to create a website or to set up email addresses for your business.

Domain names are registered through domain registrars, which are companies that are authorized by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to sell and manage domain names. When you register a domain name, you pay a fee to the registrar for the right to use that domain name for a specific period of time, usually one year.

In addition to the TLD and SLD, a domain name can also include subdomains, which are prefixes to the SLD. For example, "blog.google.com" is a subdomain of "google.com". Subdomains are used to create separate sections of a website, such as a blog or a forum.

If you're registering a domain name for a Nepali organization, you'll need to provide proof of registration, such as a certificate of incorporation.

2. Domain Name Server

A Domain Name Server (DNS) is a server that stores a database of domain names and their corresponding IP addresses. When a user types in a domain name into their web browser, the DNS server is responsible for translating that domain name into the corresponding IP address that the computer needs to connect to in order to access the website.

To register a ".com.np" domain name, you'll need to set up Domain Name System (DNS) servers for your domain. DNS servers translate domain names into IP addresses, which are used to locate the servers that host your website and deliver content to visitors.

Here are the steps to set up DNS servers for your ".com.np" domain:
  1. Choose a DNS hosting provider You can choose to host your DNS servers with your domain registrar or with a separate DNS hosting provider. Some popular DNS hosting providers include Cloudflare, DNS Made Easy and Amazon Web Services.
  2. Create DNS records Once you've chosen a DNS hosting provider, you'll need to create DNS records for your domain. The most common DNS records are:
  • A record: Maps your domain name to an IP address
